APP #2 – Father

Attachment Processing Process

< Back to Videos

In this session, Dr. Ken and Dr. Julie focus on processing attachment issues related to Dr. Julie’s father. They discuss how their work in previous sessions has positively impacted Dr. Julie’s feelings and energy. Dr. Julie shares that she no longer feels activated or upset when thinking about her sister Louise; her eight-year-old self is more settled.

The conversation shifts towards exploring Dr. Julie’s relationship with her father and the attachment agreements she made with him. They discuss how her father, in a moment of distress, had scared the children, leading to various emotional responses. Dr. Julie realizes that her father was struggling with financial issues and health problems, contributing to his outburst.

Dr. Ken guides Dr. Julie to visualize her father’s attachment circle and room, including supportive figures like his rabbi, friends, sister, and even his dogs. They explore the emotions her father is expressing in his attachment circle, and Dr. Julie witnesses her Zayda (grandfather) acknowledging and apologizing for his past actions, expressing deep regret.

As the session unfolds, Dr. Julie’s eight-year-old self and Louise observe the healing process within her father’s attachment circle. They see her father’s acknowledgment, remorse, and the support he receives from his own attachments. This realization helps Dr. Julie’s eight-year-old self release the fear and responsibility she felt toward her father.

The session concludes with Dr. Julie experiencing a shift in her physical sensations, particularly in her hip and shoulder, as she recognizes and releases the burdens she carries. She understands that the pain in her body was connected to the emotional weight she carried from her father’s unresolved issues. Overall, the session focuses on unravelling generational patterns, acknowledging past wounds, and facilitating healing within the family system.
